Off Season Happenings

As we all know, professional baseball has become a year round enterprise. No where else it that more true than with the Reno Silver Sox. Here are just a few of the changes as we head into winter league play.

-- Reno Silver Sox Manager Les Lancaster has decided to move on in professional baseball. He will now be the manager of the Sioux City Explorers of the American Association. Les will be missed but, being a Chicago Cub for life, I am sure he will like being close to not only the AAA affiliate of his Cubs but to Chicago itself. As many of you know, Les still goes back to reunions of former Cubs and he is a huge draw there.

-- Pitching Coach Dusty Bergman has also moved on and will join Les in Sioux City.

-- Reno moved quickly and signed former San Francisco Giant, 14-year MLB veteran, and two time all star Jeffrey Leonard as their new coach. He has a solid resume of minor league managing and coaching experience and will be a welcome addition to the team.

-- GBL Rookie of the Year Kane Simmons was signed by the Colorado Rockies and will report to Spring Training with a spot waiting for him with one of their minor league affiliates after that. Great job, Kane.

Alright, I think everyone is caught up on the team. I'll post again after the Arizona Winter League begins.
